Things That Make This World Better
A curated list of things that I think more people should know about and appreciate.
Investigative Journalism and Justice
Groups like ICIJ, youtubers like Coffeezilla, and the many people who work to uncover corruption, fraud, and military misconduct deserve more credit and attention. I’ll go through phases where I get uber-obsessed with justice being brought to the selfish people of the world. I feel many people don’t realize how much we are taken advantage of existing as a simple cog in a world orchestrated and run by corporations, governments, and individuals with seemingly infinite power. It is easy to feel hopeless staring at all of this, BUT through the hard work of others who are less lazy than I am we get a little glimmer of hope. It sure inspires me, and I hope others get inspired as well.
Paleontologizing
I freaking love this Twitch channel. Danny is a kind, humble, patient, and super super generous person who shares his passion for paleontology with the world via Twitch. He brings a great attitude to educate anyone on anything at all regarding what it was like on Earth back in the day, as far as our understanding goes via fossils. I admire anyone who lives their life so passionately into a topic, and hope to meet and discover more people like Danny who devote their life so fully to their interest.
Speed Running
Those who speed run games have more dedication to their craft than a majority of the people on this planet. To be able to play one game or do one activity hundreds of thousands of times with the sole goal of being the best and fastest is amazing to me. Watching someone speed run a game is a treat and I wish more people knew about this community.
Music
One thing that has been in my life as a backseat companion, helping add emotion to so many moments in my life is music. Do not mistakenly think that I was musical growing up, I’d say I am a late bloomer in this regard. I look to my peers and think it is so interesting how they are into rock music or cool old school bands. Not I. My dad had his own industrial rock genre that he liked to listen to, but I was not really into it much, which meant it was up to myself to find and explore music on my own terms.

NPR Tiny Desk
A super super amazingly underappreciated event that everyone needs to chase down is live music. While live concerts are not always accessible, NPR Tiny Desk Concerts offer a unique opportunity to experience intimate performances by world-class musicians in a casual, stripped-down setting. It makes music feel accessible and human.
